Hallie Martin is a native Austinite with extensive experience in dance, theatre and film. Early training included years of ballet at Ballet Austin Academy and under the tutelage of world-renowned ballet master Eckhard Heidrich. Later, she danced with Tropical Productions for over nine years performing traditional and modern hula and other Polynesian dance. She has since extended her repertoire to include Middle-Eastern, Latin, jazz and ballroom disciplines.
In theatre, Hallie has worked at the esteemed Austin Playhouse, performing the roles of Gwendolen in Travesties, and Karen in Speed-the-Plow. She also played Lesly in The Coda Project’s The House of Yes, and played the lead role of Eva in Rene Pinnell's original musical The Cafe du Cache. Combining her love of theatre, dance, vintage glamour and kitsch, she formed The Jigglewatts burlesque troupe in 2006. They have produced three full-length narrative productions and continue to shimmy across US stages. As burlesque diva "Ruby Joule," Hallie has performed at countless venues including Austin's legedary Antone's, Stubb's, Esther's Follies, and the historic Texas Theatre in Dallas. At the Texas Burlesque Festival in 2007, she took home the trophy for "Most Original" and received the nomination for Best in Show.
In film, Hallie recently played a supporting role in Tim McCanlies' feature The Two Bobs (spring 2009), and starred as Charity in the feature comedy thriller Z: A Zombie Musical. She has also appeared in countless short films and music videos, including the award-winning “Love Ya Like” by Rene Pinnell, and The Riverboat Gamblers' "I'm Still Not Dead Yet".
